Singing Club

 

Our children’s Singing Club meets on alternate Friday afternoons from 5pm – 5.45pm in church. We learn the treble parts for service music (particularly Choral Evensong, in which trebles are encouraged to take part) as well as singing exercises and music theory games. We also spend time talking about composers and the bible stories on which the music is based, often with the use of worksheets and quizzes.

The only qualifications for joining are a basic ability to read music (treble clef only) and lots of enthusiasm! Children usually join at the age of about 8 or 9, but younger children would be welcome if they can read music. Children are very welcome to join the singing club without joining the main choir at the same time – this can always come later when they are ready.
